Diwali celebrations light up Croydon town centre on Saturday.
There were traditional Indian dances, Bollywood numbers and prayers as the Indian festival of lights came to North End for the first time.
Mayor of Croydon Coun Yvette Hopley, Coun Vidhi Mohan and MPs Gavin Barwell and Steve all joined in the festivities, which also included stalls, food and hand painting, organised by the Croydon Hindu Council.
The Hare Krishna devotees of the South Norwood temple conducted prayers, while Bhupendra Solanki and Ajay Jobanputra delivered a Diwali message.
Diwali is an annual celebration fof the triumph of good over evil.
