Arjan Vekaria, President of Hindu Forum of Britain, has died, the organisation has said.
Vekaria died in India on November 23. He was 59 and was born in Kampala, Uganda.
He was expelled from the country in August 1972 by Idi Amin, the Ugandan dictator. He then went to India to continue studies until June 1974. He arrived in the UK the same year.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the news that our beloved Arjanbhai (Arjan Karsandas Vekaria) has left this world," the Forum said in a statement.
The funeral will take place at Madhapar, Bhuj, Gujarat tomorrow.
"The loss to the Hindu community in the UK and beyond is immense for he touched the hearts and minds of everyone he came into contact with."
"His tireless dedication towards community service was 'selfless seva' in its truest form and in this regard he was an inspiration to all," the statement said.
